An extremely talented and underrated saxophonist/singer Vi performed with such greats as Count Basie & Dizzy Gillespie yet she hardly gets a mention in jazz history. Booked into Ronnie Scott's London jazz club on a 2 week gig as a supporting act, due to her popularity this was extended to 10 weeks as she regularly earned greater attention and applause than several world famous saxophonists who appeared there at the time.
Bird Call is an absolute gem of a recording.
