As a Scottish immigrant in Australia The Corries were my ties to ‘Home’. I’ve come to learn they were part of the British (UK?) folk revival during the 60s and were productive into the 90s. The Corries performed traditional ballads and nationalist songs such as ‘Flower of Scotland’. Their music evokes the heather on the hills, the ripples in the burns, and a longing for something richer and older. Anyone wanting to hear ‘real’ Scottish music (not your ‘roaming in the gloamin’) or delve into folk music of the UK cannot do better than the simple arrangements of traditional music by the Corries.
