It's not often that you can come across a band you haven't seen for over 40 years and like 95% of the album. I first saw the Catholic Girls at a club in Philadelphia in 1981, and was taken by their unique, even by New Wave Standards, sound. Their songs were heartfelt, they weren't campy (as their name might otherwise suggest), and there was real talent there. They had just changed their name from the Doublecross School Girls, and, I think, were making their first Philly appearance. I met them afterwards and bought the then-current single, "Private School." I still have the single. Fast forward to 2023, and I'm much older (as are they) and they are still active. God Bless 'em! "Make Me Believe" is a fantastic LP, and I love almost every track on it. I was especially moved by the title track, both in acoustic and full band versions. I recommend them and the album. Now, if you (at MP3VA.COM) would also get the 1983 MCA self titled LP they did, I'd really appreciate it!!
