The Go-Go's began playing in punk clubs, but soon graduated to being maybe the best-ever girl band. That said, they were always a pop band, deep underneath.

God Bless the Go-Go's is a complete surprise: they're still very much pop, but there's a power-pop energy behind most of the songs. As a result, their latest LP is energetic and fun, just like listening to a good, tight live band.

Song by song, the songs aren't as strong as their debut, but the songs are infectious - and so easy to like - that you don't mind the lack of radio hits. God Bless the Go-Go's is an album I can listen to again and again.
