By Michael White, Havre de Grace - Md. Feeling like I did in 1977-79 when Bob Combs first turned me on to the works of this magnificent talent. But recently Elvis Costello's musical works have been hit & miss with me. Mostly miss - I must confess. Until I stuck my tongue into this "live electric socket" of 'Wise Up Ghost'. This was refreshing 'jolt'. Haven't felt this way about Costello's music since the late 70's. This album is a rejuvenated effort that refuses to go unnoticed. In fact - it reaches out to grab you by the underbelly until you are confronted with Costello's musical assault. Street-wise, part hip-hop (OK, maybe not so much on that one) however, this is his finest rendering in a long long time. Sharp, with punches thrown that have weight. This is the definitive EC come get your share. If you dare. It gets a five-star rating from me - its that good. Peace Out. mjw
