Their covers are pretty much just exact replicas. Loving tributes. And that is ok. Crystal clear lyrics, great quality, extremely well done. Some of these songs just needed a little crispness to them that Weezer brings. Great fun.
Agree with Anon. For shivers down the spine try M.Ward's cover of Bowie's Let's Dance, may offend but creates a new classic to stand alongside the original. Similarly the Chris Whitley/Jeff Lang cover of Dylan's When I Paint My Masterpiece, is a worthy fresh new take. Long Black Pete
I do not understand the fascination with their covers. They don't try to do anything different with the songs, they just sound like they are singing karaoke to the originals
