One of my favorites of 2009, if not my favorite.
When I first heard "Love Comes" coming from my satellite radio, my initial thought was, "Oh my God! Who is this?" Thankfully the text showed up right away... this is Bananarama!
I've been a fan for over two decades. I like Deep Sea Skiving, but LOVED the eponymously title second release... but as people do, my fanaticism waned in the late 80s, but VIVA revitalised it.
Take what you like best about the Bananas... the unison singing, the great hooks, the mostly fun themes and, let's be honest, the incredible good looks... roll them up into a modern 2009 package and you have the makings of a album that will easily rival, if not outshine, the fun fluff from Britney, Kylie, etc.
My favorites, "Dum Dum Boys," "The Runner," and the previously-mentioned "Love Comes." There are a few minor slips like "Single Bed" but still, one must not count out this album as a whole. It should have been bigger than anything in the genre from 2009.
