Sweepingly reminiscent of the Style Council canon. Less Rock. At turns folksy, orchestral, cinematic and still in great voice!
I was a fan of Paul Weller during his tenure in the Jam, but have not been impressed with his post-Jam discs. This is no different. I tried, but I cannot connect this Weller with the person who inspired me when he was writing for the Jam. I find this boring, and, frankly, old. He can do better, as far as I am concerned. Otherwise, I will be content to listen to old Jam records. At least they stood for something.
